Dinner and a Show!

Dan made his Bennihana for Grandpa’s birthday. Of course no meal is complete without a dinner show. Adam, Alex, and Ben were up in the bonus room practicing and came down and put on a song and dance show. Adam played the recorder, Alex played the guitar/cello, and Ben sang and danced. We heard 5 Little Monkeys, and Old McDonald Had a Farm. It was so funny!

Sleeping Beauty

Thanks to the play we saw last Friday, Cinderella, Alex wants to be in a play. We learned that “Sleeping Beauty” is being done at the Arts off Broadway in Escondido. It is a free Youth Theater. So last Saturday (yes, the very next day after we saw the play), Alex, prepared with the song, It’s a Small World, and Ben with the song, Down by the Bay, trekked over for auditions. They both got call backs and SURPRISE… they both have parts in the play. They are both thrilled. Today was their first practice. It was fun to watch. Even though they can not read, they wanted the words to the songs, just like the big kids. Alex is a woodland animal and Ben is the young Prince Phillip. It will be so much fun to watch them!

Our First T-Ball Game

Our first T-Ball game was this morning. Alex, #4, and Ben #9 were all ready in their Threshers uniforms (their socks came up to their bottoms!) Of course, according to Ben, we won! They both did such a super job, and I was so very proud of them. The best moment of the game was when Alex, playing pitcher, was looking away (at what we are not too sure…a butterfly perhaps?) and a ball was hit by the opposing team and literally rolled directly into her glove. It was priceless! I do not think she even realized it at first. It was so funny! She was so proud of herself and asked if we saw her catch the ball. Ben was very proud of her too!

Happy Birthday Grandpa Hascall!

We all got to spend the weekend in downtown San Diego for Grandpa Hascall’s 70th Birthday. We had so much fun. They had cherry Sprite, yummy, to drink and chips with cheese. We even got to go swimming with Cousin Adam. Adam, Alex, and Ben all got in their jammies and cuddled up to watched Annie together and then finally fell asleep.

Awanas

We are now officially SPARKS! Alex and Ben are so excited. They received their new Awanas Sparks vest, their HangGlider Handbook, and their new Sparks bag at their first awards ceremony. They could not be more ecstatic! We have already listened to next week’s verse and they are already planning what they will do when they finish this book.

Cricket

Ben found a rather large cricket – and I do mean large! He knew his teacher, Mrs. Michel, really wanted to see it, so he brought it to school to share with her. She was thrilled, as I am sure you can image, and immediately gave him a container to place it in for safe keeping.
