Our First Day of Kindergarten!

Our First Day of Kindergarten!

We never sleep in ~ I can always count on Ben to be up by 6:30, but not today! I needed to wake both Alex and Ben up from their slumber to come downstairs for breakfast of scrambled eggs and toast ~ Alex's with grape jelly and Ben's with honey of course...and balloons! Balloons always make things more cheerful and exciting! We brushed our teeth (before we got dressed, otherwise we would be covered in toothpaste all day), washed our faces, got on our spiffy new clothes, and brushed our newly cut hair. We looked like Kindergartners! Mommy made us take 1000 pictures outside with a BIG sign that said, "Our First Day of Kindergarten". We had our decorated lunch bags, our lunch boxes (Tinkerbell and Star Wars) are ordered, but they have not come yet, our cool folder with our name on it, and our Kindergarten badge pinned - not taped, on our shirts. We were off. We had to park way down the street past Ralph's and hike our way to our classroom. We arrived - more pictures -only 100 this time! Into our classroom we trotted, found our cubbies, placed our snack and folder into it and put on our cool new name tags. We sat down with 32 other children to listen to a fabulous Kindergarten story. A few more hundred pictures and it was time to wave good-bye! Reminding them I would be back and we would go celebrate famously - Chick-fil-A of course! I was amazed! Out of 32 children, there was only one who cried - of course that child bellowed like he had lost an arm. Fortunately his twin sister was there and gently placed him on her lap, patted his back and told him, "That's O.K. Baby, I will take care of you!" Yes, she is quite amazing! I of course did not want the other parents to realize that it was my child, and only my child, flooding the room with tears, so I waved one more time - told him I would be back and we would go celebrate and left with the echoing cries of Benjamin wailing, "But I want my Mommy!"
