Tonight we went and saw the Off Broadway Theater’s play Cinderella: If the Shoe Fits with our friends Trsitan, Darrian, and Ms. Burnes. It is a children’s theater. It was fabulous. We all loved it. Ben’s favorite part was when Cinderella got into her pumpkin carriage and the room magically filled with bubbles. Alex, naturally dressed in her own princess dress, loved the beautiful dresses the girls wore and wants to know when she can be in a play. They of course brought their money - they don't leave home without it! Ben bought himself a teddy bear for $3, and Alex bought herself a bight pink boa for $3. It was a wonderful evening!

Soccer & School!
We played soccer today - because nothing says fun like 25 kiddos kicking a ball on day hot summer day. Alex and Ben loved it and Alex keeps saying she wants to play all of the time. They did very well for it being a group of kindergarten through 3rd graders together and the fact that they have never played before (minor detail).
Alex and Ben have completed two weeks of school – and there were no tears at all this week – WOO HOO!! It was so cute this morning when I dropped Ben and Alex off at their door. They same routine – hugs, kisses, kiss their hand (from the book the Kissing Hand) I must have kissed Ben’s hand 20 times, he keeps asking for one more, “But I need one more…” Anyway, as he was walking into the room, a little person yelled, “Ben!” and ran up and gave him a big hug. It was Ben’s friend, Alex V. I have now seen the very elusive Alex V. and I can verify that he does truly exist. I was beginning to wonder if he looked the same as Ben’s notorious NoNos. (You know the NoNos – the ones who ate the cookies off the counter – they took Daddy’s change from his desk – those NoNo’s are quite mischievous!) It was fabulous to see someone so excited to see Ben and Ben to be so thrilled to have a friend.

Play Ball!
GO THRESHERS!!!! Alex and Ben had their first T-Ball practice today. Alex, #4, looked stunning with her new black and pink cleats, pink glove that lights up, pink bat, pink helmet, and her ever so stylish pink bag to carry it all. (compliments of her Daddy!) Ben, #9, told Alex not to be scared because he would help her since he has played before and helps coach – too cute! They were so much fun to watch. They caught the ball several times and threw it to Coach Art, and then hit it as hard as they could. We are trying to figure out if Alex is a left-handed hitter or not –she might be in need of a new pink glove for her other hand. Their first game is September 13th, at 12:00, and they are so excited to play a game. I wonder if Ben will hit a touchdown again this time…I sure do hope so!

Awanas!
We began Awanas tonight. Alex and Ben are so ecstatic! They are Sparks this year. We are doing it at the New Community Church of Vista. They are most excited to have their buddy, Chase, in their Sparks group. Every time we mention Awanas, I get the inquiry, “Will Chase be there? Will he be in our group?” I am so glad they are excited to go and learn their bible verses each week. They did however get into trouble for talking too much…to Chase! I wonder where they got that. Must be their dad! Pictured: Jordan Harp, Alex, Chase Peterson, Ben, Nathan Harp, Drew Peterson, Nolan Harp

Denny’s!
Every Tuesday, we meet the wonderful Pira family, Spenser, Grant, Nicholas, and Stephanie, at Denny’s for dinner. We eat for $10, including tip. Alex and Ben think it is too fantastic to get to eat pancakes and eggs for dinner. Alex loves to play tic-tac-toe with Nicholas, so fun to watch, and Ben wanted to take pictures of everything, and I do mean everything, for us. We have over 60 pictures of everything Denny’s – from place mats, to the carpet, to pictures of their pictures and the lights. He even took pictures of the ketchup for Alex. I think his self portrait is the best!
Week Two!
We are ready for our second week of school! We are equipped with our super fabulous new lunch boxes – Tinker Bell for Alex, of course, and Star Wars for Ben, like there was another option. They also wore their brand new, imported (or brought home) from Sweden by Dan, new Swatch watches. They are so spectacular. Alex’s is pink with pink sparkly jewels and Ben’s is blue with pirates and waves. They adore them and think they are such big kids with big kid watches – which of course they are!
Fortunately, there were no tears today, just an enormous bottom lip that Ben tripped over going into his classroom. I was very proud of him for being such a big boy. Alex announced to me today that she wants me to drop her off and she can walk into the school by herself. She is so grown up. Too bad I am not that grown up to do it!

Daddy is HOME!
Dan came home this weekend, and Alex and Ben were thrilled – me too!! He had a few things to do around the hosue (fix the weed whacker and use it #1) We had so much fun with him here. They swam – Ben even pushed Dan into the pool. They loved Dan getting to read them bedtime stories. Of course we had Chick-fil-A everyday. I am heartbroken that there is not one up in the bay area…how are we suppose to survive?
